Getting started

  1. Connect the DSP-6416 board to the power supply and via an USB-cable to the host computer and start the 'Code Composer Studio' if you have not done so already. Connect to the board by selecting the 'connect'-item in the Debug pull-down menu.
  2. Start the 'Tutorial_1'-project, load the program file 'Control_DSP' from the directory '...Tutorial_1\Debug'.
  3. Enable the two channels in the RTDX-framework by marking the field 'Enable RTDX' in the 'RTDX Configuration Control'-window. It can be opened via the pulldown menu 'Tools'; select item 'RTDX' and the subitem 'Configuration Control'.
  4. Start the program. Now the input channel 'ichan' and output channel 'ochan' both have been created and enabled. The program sends the message "Ready to receive messages from the host ..." to the console.
  5. Start the 'General Purpose RTDX Display'-program (gpdprog.exe) in
    '...CCStudio\examples\hostapps\rtdx\gpdprog\new\'.
Add a channel 'ichan' for 'Write' with 'Max. Messages' 101 and 'Max, Members' 1, and a channel 'ochan' for 'Read', also with 'Max. Messages' 101 and 'Max, Members' 1. Remember: integers are 32 bits wide in the 6416-DSP.
  6. Click 'Start' on the 'General Purpose RTDX Display'. Now 101 integers from 1 to 101 will be sent via channel 'ichan' to the board and 100 integers (1 to 100) will be received by the host via channel 'ochan'. On the CCStudio-console a message "Application completed" will appear, signaling the successful end of the program.
